CHAIRPERSON

Sharni Foulkes

I moved to the Goldfields at 21 to further my career and have called Kalgoorlie-Boulder home ever since. My current role as a Business Adviser at the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Chamber of Commerce and Industry allows me to meet and work with many small to medium sized business start-ups and operators across a variety of different industries. Having a background in Business development and a passion for marketing and events, I absolutely love what I do. Being part of the Goldfields Women Building Business team allows me to support other women within our region. I also have a lot of great, vibrant ideas that I would love to share if it could help you. I am always approachable and would love to catch up with you for a coffee.

I joined GWBB to share and upgrade my skills and to enjoy the diversity and camaraderie of the “sisterhood” we have in the Goldfields with this group.

My background in the past 30 years has been in Hospitality, Events, Tourism Marketing & Management in WA.   I currently assist my partner in Project Management with our family business, The Recreation Hotel,  which we have owned and operated for the past 28 years.

Living in the Goldfields has given me the opportunity to reflect, address & challenge
my business skills as the economic climate requires.

As a self-employed accountant being a member of the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Chamber of Commerce and Women Building Business allows me to give back to the community that has supported me and my family for the last 8 years. I see it as a great way to further my knowledge of local business and an opportunity to assist business owners with simple tax advice to make their businesses more profitable.

Over the last 30 years I have travelled extensively around the world and have business experience in tourism and travel. I see great opportunity for the Goldfields to expand its tourism operations and attract people here from all over the world. I hope that together we can encourage business to flourish and our local community to grow.

I joined the Goldfields Women Building Business committee as so I can grow and learn from other members and be around like-minded people. It’s awesome to pass on our information, skills, and tools to others that may benefit when helping to grow their own business.

I run three successful businesses from home, a lodging business at Forrest House accommodating mostly long-term locals at very reasonable prices.  Also, the location for Zappa’s Dreads, a small local business with a niche market expanding all the time to surrounding areas. Online presence top our 3 businesses, can never have too many fingers in too many pies and multiple streams of income. I’m an affiliate for the company Innerorigin, an online supermarket, it's Australian owned and operated and I love referring people to it to buy Australian ethically sourced, organic and natural products, looking after your health should be your first priority.

I established Global Exploration Tenement Services 8 years ago to assist mining companies secure their tenure.  I now also run Just Add People Serviced Apartments for short stay accommodation and Global Tenements, Worldwide Tenement Security Software.  Without assistance from other business leaders and mentors my business journey would have been very short.

I enjoy being part of Goldfields Women Building Business because it allows me to share my knowledge with other likeminded women and enable them to succeed.  Like most women I encounter we love to enrich others and are particularly good at connecting those we meet with others in our network.  Come join us and empower others with your knowledge.
